Black History Month 2025: Who is the Real 'TARGET'? Dumas Hosts Delta Black History Month Forum... “Who’s the ‘Target’ in Dumas and the Delta?”

February 20, 2025, Dumas AR— Black History Month has been full of talks of protests and boycotts. Many are saying… ready, aim, fire! But I say, ‘not too fast’. And be sure you don't have to say 'oops'. We cannot afford to make a mistake and hit the wrong 'target'. Life is precious. We must aim with precision-clarity. On Thursday, February 27 at 5:30pm, Dumas will host a forum entitled “Who is the Real Target?’

In rural America many communities do not have a Target or a Walmart, (who are on the lists of major boycotts slated for February and beyond.) But does that mean there is no target? We don't have a President Vladimir Putin living in the USA, but does this mean there is no Putin in US(A)? You've seen the commercial, 'Girls Gone Wild'... Well, this is nothing compared to a nation, a people, a world gone wild. Our nation is polarized and our culture is in many ways, corrupt.

The forum format is to reveal in an open discussion about what’s happening in Dumas, Desha, the Delta as it relates to things that are unjust and need to be called out. It's about who is the real target. Is it the store/company Target? Is it just them or are there other retailers and entities that merit this protest/boycott at large?

Mr. Dale Charles, former State President of the NAACP will be the keynote speaker. The forum will be moderated by Rev. Arthur L. Hunt, Jr., and other panel members.

As a minister and those in the faith-filled arenas, we can see and say, we have come to worship the creature more than the Creator’. A biblical truth to those who wish to take a deeper dive.

While (BHM), Black History Month has many points of interest and appeal, this year, there has been a resurgence of the days of protests and boycotts that transpired in the 50's and 60's.

Do we have concerns regarding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and the disrespect and disregard of God's people? Yes. One major problem in this concept is the fact that each word has its distinct meaning: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. To lump them or assign them to a cause or an initiative takes off wrong and will cause you to end up wrong.

I say to all who see the right 'TARGET', set your gaze, pray your prayers, and go forth to defeat any and all enemies. Wherever you live, find out who's seeking to block you or deny you of your God-ordained purpose and calling, and let them know in three simple words... NOT THIS TIME!

Stay tuned... The 'Hunt' is On.

Giving Honor to Rev. Rick Wright

Giving Honor to ‘The Wright Stuff’… A Tribute for Great Service— Rev. Rick Wright… Publisher, Gospel Giant and Keeper of the Faith               By Rev. Arthur L. Hunt, Jr., Senior Pastor HMC/CEO The Legacy Center in West Dumas What a joy to write a tribute to the well-deserving, out-going publisher of the Dumas Clarion. Yes, Mr. Rick Wright is passing the torch of leadership to the new editor in chief, Linna Jones. Congrats Linna.  I start my tribute with a question: What is the difference between a midget on a mountain and a giant in a hole?  Well from a distance it’s sometimes hard to see.  Depending on the angle, they look to be at the same height or measurement of statue. But an up-close examination reveals that the giant is the one that is standing at a lower level and only appears to be at the same height as the midget when you look at the depth of which he or she is standing.  Looking the same buy being different is a ...
ALL LIFE HAS DIGNITY -  but all lives are not lived dignified . From the G.O.D. view-  If you are like many people of love, faith, strength and of a sound mind - you are  sick and tired of “the sick and tired. ”         Yes! I’m a black man and I concur that ‘black lives matter’   BUT  so does  all lives matter.   When I/you/me have an injured part of our body,  yes- that part often needs/requires urgent attention  but we know that  it’s not the only part of the body.   Take away the head when the leg is broken, the eyes when the ears are deafened and what have you? A body that needs to work together to be sure that the injured/damaged part can get the best treatment in order to bring about recovery, healing and restoration for the good of the entire body (nation). What happens when we who say we are Christians  truly believe and practice the word of God...
